India’s Profile

India Bussey

India has benefitted from riding a wide variety of horses early on in her career making her naturally very adaptable. She has also enjoyed having the opportunity on numerous occasions to produce her horses right through to Grand Prix level. Since winning a silver medal at the European Championships in Austria in 2015, India has been producing a good team of horses and becoming established in the senior levels, in 2018 stepping up to Grand Prix level jumping CSI** Ranking classes at home and abroad. India is also not shy of the big stages with placings at HOYS and Olympia on ponies and has also competed in the Puissance at just 17 years old!

Most recently she has represented her country on Young Rider Nations Cup teams and has an impressive resume up to 4* 1m50 level.

Directly after her last A Level exam, India moved down to The Billy Stud in Surrey where she spent a year learning from William & Pippa Funnell about the breeding and production of their young horses. During COVID, she also spent some time in Germany and also in Belgium learning from the top Belgian showjumper, Pieter Devos.

India then spent a year riding for the ESM Equestrian & Evan’s & Barham Showjumping teams in Derbyshire where she developed horses all the way through upto 4* 1m50 level and represented Team GB on the Young Rider Nations Cup team.

With successful sales as a result of this, India then made the move back to Europe to join the world renowned Stephex Stables in Belgium. Here, India was able to learn alongside some of the top riders in our sport, with guidance and support from the likes of Daniel Deusser, Kendra Claricia Brinkop, Michael Hughes & Petronella Andersson. These 2 years were invaluable gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience developing a vast amount of horses in the ring upto CSI 3* level.

Feeling equipt and motivated, India made the move back home in August 2024 to take over the reigns of the Stud alongside Atiya & Louise to develop our own horses and take on new horses from owners from our Norfolk base.

About Us

Founded in 2000 by Paul and Louise Bussey, Wodehouse Stud is a family run competition, breeding and livery stables located in Norfolk, just outside of Norwich.

With a wealth of experience in everything equestrian, but focusing now mainly on the showjumpers, Louise set out to breed and produce quality young horses for the modern day sport.

Since then, our breeding programme has flourished and with 2 to 3 foals every year who boast some of the world’s best breeding stallions as sires, we have some very exciting young stock coming through our stables.

Alongside this, daughters India and Atiya are both highly competitive in the sport and have already represented their country at the FEI European Championships for Youth, as well as having numerous Nations Cup appearances with much success on the international stage.

Over the past 20 years we have been developing our facilities here at Wodehouse Stud and continue to do so on an on-going basis. Our livery services allow us to share this with the wider equestrian community and we are proud to offer top class care to our clients, with the happiness and health of the horses being at the forefront of everything we do.

Please take the time to explore our website to understand more about what we have to offer and what we are all about here at Wodehouse Stud; thank you!
