At Wodehouse Stud we operate a small, long term breeding program. We retain the outlook of quality over quantity, generally breeding between 1 and 4 foals each year. We understand the importance of a high quality mare and from this aim to produce sound, correct and of course talented sport horses to produce for modern day showjumping.
Our breeding programme stemmed from our foundation mare, Ready to Fly, and stallion, Ruben. Later on we Vrielink Vans Gravenstafel into the program, a stunning liver chestnut big jumping stallion who we acquired from Tim Stockdale and originated from the Stephex Stables. His sports career was cut short, but he bred us some fantastic offspring which still infuse our breeding program today.
We take time to study our prospective broodmares thoroughly to ensure we can make the best match for them when it comes to picking which stallion to use. World renowned stallions such as Ermitage Kalone, Diarado, Chacoon Blue, Diablue, Billy Tudor and Balou du Rouet, are amongst recent choices as we look to breed and produce youngsters for the top level sport.
